Livadi of Elassona

Livadi is 35 kms away from Elassona. Its foundation goes as far back as the 17th century.

Its inhabitants are mainly farmers and cattle-breeders. Apart from being Georgaki Olympio’s homeland, famous scholars such as Koumas, Pezaros and Anthimos Olimpiotis have taught in the schools of the village.

The spots of “Sapka”, “Bistiries” and “Prophet Elijah’s” offer a wonderful view of mounts Olympus and Titarus.
It is also worth mentioning monasteries of major significance such as those of Prophet Elijah and of Holy Trinity besides the country church of Saint Charalambos.
Moreover, the wooden icon screens of the churches of the village are significant, too. The cultural events that are held at “Kioski” and “Zanio” with Vlack songs and local dances attract a lot of visitors.

On the cobbleroads of the village there can be seen stone houses, the “Taze” mansion, the stone fountains as well as the 17th century stone bridge that cause the visitor’s admiration.

The revival of the Vlach wedding as well as the revival of New Year’s and Saint Theodori’s customs are also worth mentioning. Visitors are advised to visit the Folklore museum of G. Olimpios.
